Gorillas, chimpanzees, golden monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys are some of the primate you will encounter on your Uganda safari.

This Uganda primate safari takes you to Kibale national park in search for the chimpanzee with which we share a staggering 95% DNA. Enjoy the outdoors as you trek through the forest for amazing forest sounds, great bird sightings and an enjoyable trek.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Depart for Kibale national park.

Our guide will pick you from your hotel as early as 6am for the transfer to Kibale national park. After a briefing on the 2 day Chimpanzee Uganda safari, we will drive towards Kibale, enjoying the amazing scenery of the hills, forests and swamps. We will have breakfast en route and reach Kibale National park in time for lunch.

We will check into the lodge and enjoy the amazing views of the forest. Later in the evening, we will venture out for an evening nature in the Bigodi wetlands. Rare bird species like the great blue turaco and Papyrus Gonolek can be seen in the sanctuary. Red colobus monkeys and sitatunga can occasionally be seen in his wetland. We will return to the lodge for a relaxing evening in preparation for our chimpanzee trek.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking

After an early breakfast, we will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing. In this briefing, we will be given guidelines on chimpanzee trekking. With a trained ranger, we will proceed into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. The rangers will answer any questions you might have regarding the primates and the forest.

On making contact with the chimpanzees, we will observe them as they eat, play and groom each other. That’s all they do. We will have the opportunity to take pictures and ask as many questions as we may have. During this chimpanzee trek, we will get to see other primates like the white and black colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkeys and many more. More bird species can be seen in this forest. After the trek, we will return to the lodge for lunch before departing for Kampala. We hope to arrive in Kampala later in the evening. The guide will drop you at your hotel or the airport.
