3 Day chimpanzee trekking safari

This 3 Day chimpanzee trekking safari is a short primate safari that takes you to Kibale forest national park for chimpanzee trekking. On this primate safari, you will trek through the tropical forest in search of the primates. Kibale forest national park is located in the western part of Uganda adorned with amazing landscapes and spectacular wildlife.

• Day 1: Transfer to Kibale forest and evening nature walk
• Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and afternoon exploration of crater lakes
• Day 3: Transfer to Kampala.

3 Day chimpanzee trekking safari detailed itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale national park.

You will be briefed prior to your primate safari. On the morning of your Uganda safari, our guide will pick you from your area of residence or hotel. The scenic drive through Mityana, Mubende and the papyrus wetlands of Kyenjojo is amazing. On arrival at the lodge, we will check in, have a nice lunch and relax for the afternoon. Later in the evening, we will embark on an evening nature walk to the Bigodi wetland sanctuary. Here, we will have amazing interactions with nature and some primates like the red tailed monkeys. The sanctuary has amazing bird species like the rare turaco. Return to the lodge for a relaxing evening and night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking.

Proceeding a warm breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on our chimpanzee trek. Here, we will be given the rules and regulations for chimpanzee trekking. With our guide and ranger leading the way, you will head into the forest in search of these primates. On making contact, we will have an hour to observe and interact with them. Since they share 97% of their DNA with humans, their behaviors are interesting. They are a delight to observe, tricking insects out of their holes with sticks, their mode of communication, their grooming and much more. During the trek, you will be able to observe more primates like the blue monkeys, the red tailed monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys and the grey checked mangabeys. We will then return to the lodge for lunch.

Later in the afternoon, we will drive out to explore the different crater lakes and the amazing scenery. This includes the views of mountain Rwenzori. We will have a sunset picnic and enjoy the beauty of Uganda on this Uganda primate safari. Return to the lodge and relax for the evening.

Day 3: Return to Kampala.

On the last day of this 3 Day chimpanzee trekking safari, we will have a lazy breakfast as we prepare to depart from Kibale national park. You will have amazing views of the tea plantations and papyrus swamps on the drive back to Kampala. On arrival, the guide will drop you at your hotel, place of residence or airport.
