3 Day gorilla trekking and cultural safari overview
This 3 Day gorilla trekking and cultural safari takes you to Bwindi impenetrable national park for in the southwestern part of Uganda. This is home to the endangered mountain gorillas. With over 450 gorillas, Uganda holds more than half of the world’s gorillas in the wild.
On this 3 Day gorilla trekking and cultural safari, you will trek through the impenetrable forest trekking for gorillas in their natural habitat. Later, we will embark on a cultural tour of the indigenous people, the Batwa. This short Uganda gorilla safari allows you to enjoy great views of the forest, interactions with the great apes and the local communities.

3 Day gorilla trekking and cultural safari detailed itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi
Prior to the Uganda gorilla trekking safari, you will be briefed on the safari. We will have an early departure in order to avoid the traffic in Kampala. Our first break will be at the equator. Here, we will have great pictures and hemispheric experiments. After our breakfast, we will continue on our scenic drive. Lunch will be in Mbarara before proceeding to Bwindi. The rolling hills of Kabale offer scenic views on this drive. On arrival in Bwindi, we will check into our lodge and relax. With the views of the forests, Bwindi is spectacular. We will retire for the night as we prepare for the gorilla trekking.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and cultural tour
Following a healthy breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. This briefing is about the do and don’ts while gorilla trekking. After being put in groups of 8 for each gorilla family, we will head into the forest in search of the gorillas. We will weave through the impenetrable forest and finally locate the gorillas. We will take pictures, videos and be amazed as they interact with one another. Other primates like L’hoist monkeys, black and white colobus can be seen during the trek. Depending on the location of the gorillas, the trekking may last between 3-6 hours. After the gorilla trekking, we will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Later in the evening, we will venture out on our cultural tour of the indigenous people. The Batwa who were once the residents of the forest have set up communities outside the park. Here, we will learn about their culture, way of life through their food, music and tales. We will retire to the lodge for a relaxing evening by the fire place
Day 3: Transfer to Kampala
On the last day of this gorilla trekking and cultural safari, we will have a hearty breakfast before bidding farewell to the forest. We will drive through the terraced hills of Kabale, stopping for a quick coffee on the way. Lunch will be in Mbarara before proceeding to Kampala. On arrival, the guide will drop you at your hotel, residence or residence. This will mark the end of your 3 Day gorilla trekking and cultural safari
