4 Day Murchison falls Uganda Wildlife safari Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls
You will be briefed prior to your Uganda Wildlife safari and on this day, we will have an early start as we set off for our Uganda Wildlife safari. We will have our first stop at Kabalega diner for breakfast. After breakfast, we will head to Zziwa rhino sanctuary for Rhino trekking. We will be taken through a safety briefing before the trek. After a short drive, we will enter the wilderness on foot to track down the rhino.
On making contact, we will observe them as they feed at a safe distance. However much they are used to seeing people, they are still wild. The experienced rangers will make sure you are safe. They will be at your disposal if you have any questions. Other wildlife life can be seen on the sanctuary like bush buck, dicker, leopards and plenty of birds like blue eyes sterling, wagtail, shoebill and many more.
We will have an early lunch at the diner before proceeding on our journey to Murchison falls. On arrival, we will check into the lodge and have a restful evening. This will bring day 1 of our 4 day Murchison falls Uganda Wildlife safari to an end.
Day 2; Game drives and boat cruise.
After an early breakfast, we will have an early departure into the park for a morning game drive. This is done in a customized safari vehicle offering comfort during your Uganda wildlife safari. On this game drive, we will enjoy the beautiful scenery of Murchison falls. The lush green savanna plains will offer amazing sights of wildlife like Uganda kobs, oribi, warthogs, giraffes, elephants, lions, hyenas, buffalo, hippos and much more. Bird species like Abdim’s stalk, ground hornbill, bald eagles, Egyptian geese and many more can be seen on this drive. It will last up to 4 hours and we will return to the lodge for an early lunch.
After the early lunch, we will embark on the afternoon boat cruise on the Nile. This cruise is a relaxing cruise yet filled with excitement as we view the amazing wildlife by the banks of the river. Animals that can be seen include hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalo, kobs and water bucks as they come to quench their thirst in the hot savanna heat. This boat cruise will take us to the bottom of the falls. We will have the option of hiking alongside the falls to the top of Murchison falls where the guide will pick you and take you to back to the lodge. Should you choose not to, we will return to the boat launch and drive back to the lodge. We shall retire for the night.
Day 3; Game drive and transfer to Budongo forest.
We will venture yet again into the park for another game drive. On this game drive, we hope to see the wildlife we may have missed the previous evening. At our pace, we truly appreciate the beauty and elegance of these animals. After a small picnic at the delta, we will drive through the park, cross the ferry at Paraa and head towards the top of Murchison falls.
At Murchison falls, we shall enjoy the sheer power and magnificence as the Nile is forced down a 7 meter gap just to fall 50 meters into the Albert Nile. The force of falls creates a spray of water over 50 meters high creating a rainbow when the sun is up. We will have our picnic lunch and we enjoy the roar of Murchison falls. We will depart for Budongo forest. On arrival, we will relax at the lodge as we enjoy the wooden cabins in the forest. The sounds of the crickets, birds and the forest create a memorable Uganda Wildlife safari. We will retire for the night.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and return to Kampala.
On the last day of this 4 day Murchison falls Uganda Wildlife safari. We will have an early breakfast as we prepare for chimpanzee trekking. After a briefing, we will head into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. We will enjoy the nature walk, taking in the views and sounds of the tropical forest. On making contact with the chimpanzees, we will observe them eat, play and groom. We will take as many pictures remembering the guidelines given during the briefing. We will return to the lodge, check out and depart Murchison falls. We will stop for lunch at Kabalega diner before proceeding to Kampala. The guide will drop you off at your hotel or airport in time for your flight.
