4 Day Uganda primate and wildlife safari Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Depart for Kibale National Park

On the day of your 4 day Uganda primate and wildlife safari, the guide will pick you from your hotel and after a short briefing, you will embark on your journey to Kibale forest national park. The drive offers amazing scenery of forest, papyrus swamps and tea plantations. We will have lunch en-route and on arrival, we will check into the lodge. Later in the evening, we will head out for a nature walk in the Bigodi wetlands. This is home to some rare bird species like Rare Blue turaco and papyrus Gonolek. We will retire to the lodge for the evening and night.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Following an early breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. In this briefing, you will be given the rules and regulations of Chimpanzee trekking. With an experienced ranger, you will head into the forest for the trek. On making contact with the chimpanzees, we will take photos and observe them in their natural habitat. Other primates that can be seen include; white and black colobus monkeys, grey checked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys and many more. We will return to the lodge for lunch.

We shall then check out of the lodge and embark on our scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth. The Rwenzori ranges, crater lakes and hills give an epic ride on this 4 day Uganda primate and wildlife safari. On arrival in Queen Elizabeth, we will check into our lodge and relax for the night.

Day 3: Game drive and afternoon boat cruise

On this day of your Uganda safari, we will have an early breakfast as we prepare for a game drive on the savanna plains of Queen Elizabeth. This drive takes place on the Kasenyi plains. We hope to see amazing Uganda wildlife like elephants, leopards, lions, hyenas, antelopes, buffalo, hippos and plenty of bird species. This game drive is done in a customized safari van, bringing you closer to the wildlife as safely as possible. This drive will last up to 4 hours. We will return to the lodge for an early lunch in preparation for an afternoon boat cruise.

The boat cruise takes place on the Kazinga channel and offers a relaxing afternoon as you watch the amazing wildlife. Elephants, buffalo and kobs are seen on the banks of the channel as they come to quench their thirst while water dwellers like hippos and crocodiles are visible in the water and banks of the channel. Plenty of birds like African fish eagle, egrets, saddle billed storks, king fishers and many more can be on the banks. This cruise will last 2 hours and we will return to the lodge for the night.

Day 4: Crater drive and transfer to Kampala

On the last day of your 4 day Uganda primate and wildlife safari, we will embark on the crater drive before departing for Kampala. Due to volcanic activity, crater lakes were formed in the base of the rift valley and they offer amazing scenery on your 4 day Uganda primate and wildlife safari. On this crater drive, we will visit the different craters and enjoy the scenery. After the drive, we will check out of the lodge and head back to Kampala. We shall have a lunch stopover at Igongo cultural center. Another stop for pictures and some experiments at the equator before proceeding to Kampala. On arrival, the guide will drop you at your hotel. That will mark the end of your 4 day Uganda safari.
