Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari: Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
On the first day of this 6 Day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, we will depart Kampala for Queen Elizabeth. We will have breakfast at the equator where we will take some pictures and do some experiments to determine the different hemispheres. We will continue and check into our lodge in Queen Elizabeth national park.
After a relaxing afternoon, we will have a relaxing evening crater drive. This drive takes us through the crater lakes. It’s scenic and rewarding, offering a romantic end to our first day of the 6 Day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari
Day 2: Game drives and boat cruise.
After an early breakfast, we will venture out into the park for a morning game drive. This will take place on the Kasenyi plain. On this game drive, we hope to see lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, hyenas, hippos, water bucks and many more animals. We will visit the kasenyi salt lake and see how the locals extract their salt. This game drive will last up to 4 hours.
We will return to the lodge for an early lunch before embarking on the afternoon boat cruise. This is done on the Kazinga channel. This boat cruise offers a relaxing time as well as close encounters with more wildlife like elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and plenty of bird species. We will return to the lodge for the night.
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and game drive
After a restful evening, we will have a late breakfast in preparation for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge. After a briefing, we will head out into the forest in search of these primates. We will get to watch as they swing from one branch to another. We shall see them groom, play and eat. We will return to the lodge for lunch and relax for the afternoon.
Later in the evening, we will head out for yet another game drive. This drive gives us the opportunity to see the wildlife we may have missed the previous day. Every day in the wild is different. Overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National park
On this day of the 6 Day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, we will transfer to Bwindi national park through the Ishasha sector. This sector of Queen Elizabeth national park is famous for the tree climbing lions. We will continue and check into our lodge in Bwindi. The lush green forest is welcoming and offers amazing safari experience. The sounds and the views are magnificent. We will check into the lodge and relax after the long drive.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Following an early breakfast, we will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. We will be instructed on the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. Different groups of 8 will be allocated to trek different gorilla families. With a walking stick and a bottle of water in hand, you will enter the forest.
The winding trek into the forest is amazing. The anxiety as you search for these gorilla make for a memorable trek. Upon making contact, you will amazed. The black, thick huge primates will drop your jaws to the ground. You will spend an hour observing the gorillas as they eat, play and fart their way through their day. Depending on the location of the gorilla families, gorilla trekking takes between 2-8 hours.
After the gorilla trekking, we will return to the lodge and relax for the afternoon. The views and sounds of the impenetrable forest offers remarkable Uganda safari moments. Later in the evening, you will head out and interact with the local indigenous people, the Batwa. On this cultural tour, we will learn about their heritage, culture, food and enjoy some local traditional music. We will then retire to the lodge for the evening.
Day 6: Transfer to Kampala.
On the last day of our 6 Day Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari, we will depart Bwindi impenetrable forest, driving through the scenic beauty of the hills and forests and head towards Kampala. We will make a lunch stopover at Igongo cultural center before proceeding to Kampala. On arrival, the guide will drop you off at your hotel or the airport in time for your flight.
