7 Days Best of Rwanda Safari : This trip will unveil to you the beauty of the wilderness in Rwanda. Get to visit the 3 national parks where you will be offered a perfect blend of a thrilling encounter with the gorillas in Volcanoes national park, Game drives in Akagera national park and chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon arrival at the airport, you will meet your driver guide and be briefed about your safari, you will commence your journey to Akagera National Park and start the safari off with a Check-in at the lodge and later have lunch. After you lunch you will set off for an afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema at Akagera national Park, not forgetting photography to keep some memories. Head back to you lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Have an early morning breakfast at the lodge after which you will embark on a journey down south with your tour guide. You will have a brief stopover at Nyanza palace for a tour of the palace which was a traditional home for Rwanda’s former kings. There will also be a lunch stop over en-route to Nyungwe forest national park and Check in, rest and wait for Dinner to be served.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking and Afternoon canopy walk
Early morning breakfast will be served after which you will start the day off with a drive to the park headquarters for briefing at 8am. Nyungwe Forest is by far the largest montane rain forest in East and Central Africa and contains 13 primate species, 275 bird species and 38 reptile species. After the Chimpanzee tracking session, you will return to the lodge, relax and have lunch. In the afternoon after your lunch break you will step out for a canopy walk in the park. head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Have an early breakfast after which you will depart north driving to Volcanoes National Park. You will have a lunch stop over en-route to Volcanoes National Park. upon arrival, you will rest, freshen up and wait for dinner to be served.
Day 6: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park
Start off the day with a transfer to the Kinigi briefing area where you will be briefed by park officials about the day’s activities and assigned a group that you will trek the Gorillas with. Gorilla tracking will last anywhere between 2-8 hours depending on the location of the Gorillas on that particular day. After successfully tracking the gorillas you will stay in close proximity with the Gorillas for an hour after which you will return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will track the g olden monkeys with the guidance of an experienced guide. It will take anywhere between 1-2 hours after which return to your lodge rest as you wait for dinner.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali and departure
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and embark on your journey back to Kigali, you will have a brief tour of Kigali city depending on the time of your flight. On the tour through the city, expect to familiarize themselves with the Rwandan capital; our half day city tour is a perfect addition to your Rwanda trip then head to the airport.
