Detailed itinerary of 7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzee and wildlife safari
Day 1: arrival and transfer to Akagera national park
On the 1st you will be picked from the airport upon arrival by your safari driver our company representative and then head on a journey to Kigali city, depending on the time of your arrival you will visit local markets, Kigali genocide centre and many more. After the city tour you will set off on a drive heading to Akagera national park. Upon your arrival you will be dropped off at your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 2: morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
On the 2nd day of 7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzees and wildlife safari you will have morning breakfast and head to the park for morning game drive on which you will get a chance to see many wildlife species such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, gazelles, oribi, hippos, Masai giraffe, zebras, topis, oribis, bush baby and many more. After the game drive you will head to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema, on the boat cruise you will enjoy views of animals like hippos, crocodiles and many birds such as kingfishers, papyrus Gonolek, African fish eagles, cormorants and many more. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 3: morning game drive and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
On the 3rd day of 7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzees and wildlife safari you will have morning breakfast at your lodge and exit the park with en-route game drive embarking on a drive to Nyungwe forest national park. On your way you will have a lunch stop over and when you arrive in the park you will check into your lodge and you can decide to go for a tea plantation walk or rest at your lodge, in the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: chimpanzee tracking
On the 4th day of 7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzees and wildlife safari you will have early morning breakfast at your lodge and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee tracking, in the briefing a guide will take you through the rightful way of conduct in the presence of the chimpanzees. From the headquarters you will head into the forests searching for chimpanzees, on your way look out for chimpanzees and on your way look out for birds and other primates such as olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and many bird species. You are allocated one hour to stay in presence of mountain gorillas, observe their behavior and take amazing pictures. After the tracking you will return to your lodge and have a restful evening. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: canopy walk and transfer to Lake Kivu
On the 5th day of 7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzee and wildlife safari you will have early morning breakfast and head to Uwinka visitor centre for Nyungwe forest canopy walk, canopy walk is done on a canopy raised up 50 meters above the forests of Nyungwe and it is a 200 meters walk. On this walk you will enjoy magical sights of the green vegetation and many animals such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and many birds. After the experience you will have lunch at your lodge and then head to Lake Kivu, upon you arrival you will check into your lodge and head to the lake for an afternoon swim or playing beach games like sand football. In the evening you will have dinner and stay overnight at your lodge.

Day 6: lake Kivu adventure and transfer to volcanoes national park
On the 6th of7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzee and wildlife safari you will have morning breakfast at your leisure and head to the lake for a boat ride on Lake Kivu, on the boat ride you will enjoy views of the surrounding and many sights of birds such as Albertine Owlet, Lagden’s Bush shrike, Kivu Ground Thrush, Red-collared Mountain Babbler, Kungwe Apalis, Handsome Francolin, Rwenzori Turaco, Rwenzori Hill Babbler, Rwenzori Double-collared and Regal Sunbird, Mountain Sooty Boubou, Rwenzori Batis, African Green Broadbill and many more. After the experience you will have lunch and then head on a journey to Volcanoes national park, upon your arrival you will check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 7: mountain gorilla trekking and transfer to Kigali fir drop-off
On the 7 days Rwanda gorilla, chimpanzee and wildlife safari you will wake up early in the morning for breakfast and with your packed lunch you will head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about mountain gorilla trekking. A ranger will take you through rules and regulations to follow, you will also be allocated a gorilla group to trek and also hire a porter, then trek into the forests in search for mountain gorillas. The trek takes about 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, on this experience you are allowed to spend only one hour in the presence of the gorillas while observing their behavior and take amazing pictures as long as your flashlight is off. After the trek you will head back to the park’s headquarters, meet your safari driver and exit the park on a journey back to Kigali, upon your arrival you will be dropped at your hotel or at Kigali international airport for your departure flight back home.
