Attraction in Kidepo Valley National park

Attraction in Kidepo Valley National park : Kidepo Valley National Park is a  1442 square kilometre National park in the Karamoja region in northeast of Uganda .Its known for its stunning  wildlife and natural beauty . The park is approximately 520 kilometres by road northeast of Kampala and located near Karenga in Kaabong   District  in the north-eastern corner of Uganda in a savannah landscape next to a few mountainous bodies .

The park currently hosts 75 species of mammals and 470 of birds . Since Further more Kidepo can be visited the  all year although conditions in the park are difficult in the rainy seasons where by tour guides are  advised to use 4×4 vehicles while visiting the  park , well as quite hot and generally dry .  Within Kidepo National Park, they  are two valleys; the Kidepo Valley and the Narus Valley which is regarded as the heart of the park because it is round a water source for wildlife.

Narus Valley

The Narus valley in kidepo national park is breath taking   where by its known for its stunning land

Scapes and abundant  wildlife . It has permanent water which makes the parks wildlife to congregate in the place.  Many creatures such as giraffes, buffaloes , oribis ,lions can be seen in the valley. The area is well provided with game tracks, with four loop circuits exploring the valley around  Apooka. The valley is surrounded by rolling hills and is a prime spot for game drives. You can  see herds of elephants, buffaloes,  and antelopes grazing  peacefully . The  Narus  River flows through the valley , attracting  various  bird species , making  it a paradise for birdwatchers too.

Apoka tourism centre

Apoka tourism center is located within kidepo valley national park in Uganda .It’s the main entry point for  visitors to the park  and  offers  various facilities  and services , including  accommodation, dining ,information and  guided tours .The centre provides opportunities for tourists to explore the diverse  wildlife  and stunning  landscapes of kidepo national park  through activities  such as  game drives , nature walks , and  cultural experiences with the local communities . And for those  without their own transport  , park trucks  can be  hired  and it has  a craft with books and souvenirs , beverages can be purchased  from their.

Kidepo valley and kanangorok Hot springs.

Kidepo valley is located in north-eastern  Uganda and is renowned  for its stunning  scenery , wildlife and rich cultural heritage  and its  vast open savannahs. The valley is surrounded by mountains and offers panoramic views. A person is  able to spot  various wildlife species  including lions , cheetahs , giraffes and different types of antelopes.

The Kanangorok Hot springs .

These are geothermal features where by  hot water emerges  from the ground .The water  is rich in minerals and believed  to have healing  properties .Visitors /tourists get a chance to relax in natural thermal pools amidst the landscape. This only attracts a lot of tourist so as to explore the park.

Mount Morungule

Mount Morungole stands at 2750m and is crossed by the kidepo and Narus rivers. Its known for its popular destination like hiking . The mountain offers  views of the surrounding landscapes, the vast savannahs and the Narus valley. The region can be explored on foot with  a ranger .The slopes of the mountain are a home to the IK people who leave with in the park .

Lomej Hills.

The Lomej hills are a short drive from the head quarters .The hills are covered in lush vegetation and provide a habitat for a variety of wild life for example   the elephants  ,giraffes  and many different bird species e.g. the  mountain reedbuck which allows  a tourist to feel the beauty.

Birding

Kidepo  is a home for birds approximately 475 different species  of birds .Forexample  karamoja Apails , purple Heron, Abyssinian Roller  and Clappertons Francolin  ostriches ,secretary birds  .And the best place for bird watching in kidepo is Narus valley and Namamukweny  mount .

Namamukweny valley

The word Namamukweny means  a place with no birds .Namamukweny valley in actual sense , it’s the place in kidepo with a large number of  birds making it the opposite of its   meaning .The valley is inhabited by many bird species forexample white crested turaco,green wood hoopoe among others .The valley is located in the north west of the park .
