Birds in Queen Elizabeth National Park include Hooded Vulture, Martial Eagle, Grey Kestrel, African Wattled Plover, Black-bellied Bustard, Black-lored Babbler, White-tailed Lark, Pink-backed Pelican, Black-crowned Tchagra, Slender-tailed Nightjar, Blue-naped Mousebird, Papyrus Canary, Pygmy Kingfisher, Scarlet-chested Sunbird, the lesser and greater Flamingo among others.

Domestic flights to Queen Elizabeth National Park are offered on a daily basis from Entebbe International Airport and Kajjansi Airstrip, the flight takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to get to the park which is served as by several airstrips such as Mweya Airstrip and Kasese Airstrip.

Domestic flights to Queen Elizabeth National Park are operated by several local flight operators such as Bar Aviation, Aerolink Uganda and Fly Uganda.

Bar Aviation and AeroLink Uganda operate daily morning flights departing from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip at 07:05 am and arrive at Kasese Airstrip or Mweya Airstrip at 10:05 am and return flights depart from Kasese/Mweya airstrip at 10:20 am and arrive at Entebbe International Airport at 11:25 am.

Bar Aviation and AeroLink Uganda also daily afternoon flights departing from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airstrip at 12:05 pm and arrive at either Kasese or Mweya Airstrip at 13:30 pm and return flights depart from Kasese or Mweya Airstrip at 14:35 pm and arrive at Entebbe International Airport at 04:30 PM.

 

On arrival at either Kasese Airstrip or Mweya, you are picked by your driver – guide from your Tour Operator and head to your safari lodge which is normally situated near the airstrip.

Best Time to Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park for a Uganda Safari

Queen Elizabeth National Park is a year-round destination meaning it can be visited for a Uganda safari at any time of the year, however the best time the park for a wildlife safari is from January to February and June to September which is a dry season.

What makes this season a great time of the year for wildlife viewing is that the vegetation cover less and animals are easily seen crowding around the remaining watering holes in the park.
