About Buhoma Sector
Buhoma Sector is the premier gorilla trekking sector and the most popular of the 4 sectors making up Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this sector is located in the Northern sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Buhoma Sector is the first trailhead to open gorilla trekking in Uganda in 1993 by the Uganda Wildlife Authority following the gazetting of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in 1991. Buhoma Sector paved way for gorilla trekking in Uganda with availing the first gorilla family “Mubare Gorilla Group” after a three- year habituation process.
Buhoma Sector has 4 habituated gorilla family groups available for gorilla trekking, these are Mubare gorilla family, Habimanya gorilla family, Rushegura and Katwe gorilla family.
Buhoma Sector receives a huge population of travelers visiting for gorilla trekking adventure, among these tourists are luxury tourists in need of luxury accommodations.

Buhoma Lodge
Buhoma Lodge is an intimate and charming luxury lodge boasting spectacular and uninterrupted views of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this upmarket lodge is one of the only two lodges situated within the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it is within a short walking distance from the meeting point for gorilla trekking in Buhoma Area.
Buhoma Lodge features an elevated central area, complete with lounge, bar and dining area offering a cozy comfortable environment to relax around the fireplaces adding atmosphere and warmth in the cool evenings.
Accommodation at Buhoma Lodge – there are 10 comfortable chalets that have been individually designed and carefully built using locally sourced materials whenever possible that is without compromising the levels of comfort. Each of the chalet has its own private verandas boasting wonderful views and vistas of the forest canopy of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The chalets are spacious, have comfortable beds and everything you need to make yourself at home, the well – appointed and roomy en-suite bathroom with flush toilet contains a rain shower with a copious supply of hot water and equipped with locally produced natural ranges of complementary bathroom amenities.
Also, some chalets offer a bath – tub for relaxation and enjoyment after the thrilling activities.
Each Chalet is fitted with insect proof window screens, eco-friendly solar lighting and a secure safe. The Family/honeymoon chalet also features a separate lounge room with open fire place that is in addition to the all the above.
Bwindi Lodge
Bwindi Lodge is a luxury lodge in Buhoma Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park overlooking the unspoiled and untamed Bwindi Forest across a valley stream, this beautiful upmarket lodges offers intimate bush luxury accommodation in Buhoma Sector.
The lodge is elegantly positioned in a walking distance from the tailhead in the northern region of Bwindi which is one of the two last mountain gorilla strongholds.
Bwindi Lodge has nine gorgeous wood and stone cottages sitting across the hillsides facing the emerald Bwindi canopy, the décor in the rooms is simple yet comfortable showing off African fabric artisanry and character.
Each cottage has a private deck here guests can immerse themselves at one of the world’s remaining rich ecosystems as well as exclusive privacy in the jungle.
The lodge has an impressive and charming main area with big glass windows, airy fireplace and raised position of the lodge adding elegance to the cool evenings.
Rooms at Bwindi Lodge
Bwindi Lodge offers accommodation in 9 specially crafted cottages, one of these cottages is offered as Deluxe for a family or honeymooners. The other cottages are specious chalets accommodating two adults with ample space for an extra bed to fit a child under 5 years.
Both of these options benefit from eco-friendly solar lighting, insect – proof window screens and spacious ensuite bathrooms. The beds are a fluffy worm and the en-suite facilities incorporate a flush toilet and spacious washbasin, with a walk-in hot water rain shower.
All the chalets at Bwindi Lodge have en enchanting veranda where you can take time in between activities to marvel at the gorgeous jungle blanket sweeping over the lodge’s forefront.
All the cottages at Bwindi Lodge are named after gorillas in Buhoma Sector, there décor is the epitome of shabby chic featuring patch work upholstered chairs, bathroom vanity units made from recycled tin, striped kilims on the floor and hand-sewn quilts on the beds.
Each guest is given a personal butler and complimentary massage in the charming Humula Forest Spa which is secluded somewhere on the property.

Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is an upmarket lodge in Buhoma Sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the camp is nestled inside the park offering the luxurious stay for gorilla trekking in Uganda. The lodge is spread over a series steep ridges and valleys, Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp is ecologically respectful, contemporary and yet classic in style.
The lodge’s lounge overlooks the rainforest of Bwindi with a raised natural platform built for open air dining. Each morning, guests can enjoy a full English and continental breakfast, a complemented with delicious packed lunch including fresh fruit, sweet and savory delights to take with them for the morning activity such as gorilla trekking.
All meals served in the bar and dining area which overlooks the rainforest are a la carte and prepared by Chef Medard serving a silver service.
Accommodation – Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp offers unique and comfortable stay to guests in canvas tents dressed with indigenous prints and furniture made from natural materials. Beds at the camps are draped in neutral – toned linens and local artifacts which set the scene for a memorable and authentic experience.
